  1. Build a frame to desired dimensions.
  2. Rip end and center rungs to 1 1/2" wide by 1 1/2" thick by desired length.
  3. Space them evenly and screw to the frame.
  4. Rip a 2" x 4" into to 1/8"-thick pieces. (Create enough slates to weave through rungs from top to bottom.)
  5. Weave 2" x 4" strips through the rungs.
  6. Apply wood stain. Let dry.
  7. Apply spar urethane. Let dry.
  8. Dig two holes and insert the legs of the screen.
  9. Pour river rock around each leg. Tamp down.
  10. Level screen.
  11. Fill the holes the rest of the way with dirt. Tamp down.
  12. Admire!
