Cheap beverage tubs are easy to find, but they don't always come in the most desirable colors. In this project, we spray painted a drink tub to give it a classic metallic finish that will complement the decor at any party.

  1. PREPARE: Always work in a well ventilated area and cover nearby items with a drop cloth to protect them from paint splatters. Clean the entire tub with a lint free cloth.
  2. PAINT: Shake your can of Universal Aged Metallic spray paint in Weathered Steel for 1 minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Hold the can upright 12-24” from the tub and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Apply one light coat, allow to dry for 3-5 minutes, and follow with one heavier coat at moderate speed, spraying continuously over the tub. If needed, re-coat after 3-5 minutes.
  3. FINISH: Allow the beverage tub to dry for approximately 24 hours prior to use.
Once your tub is completely dry, add ice and stock up on your favorite beverages. It's party time! To make your barbecue even more stylish, check out these other DIY patio projects.
