Small details--like textured glass--are often what separate high-end home decor from thrift store finds. Here's how we created this rippled glass effect on a cheap lamp to give it just the right amount of upscale flare.

  1. PREPARE: Always work in a well ventilated area and cover nearby items with a drop cloth to protect them from overspray. Remove the lamp shade from the lamp and tape off the lamp base and light fixture. Clean all glass surfaces thoroughly with glass cleaner and a lint free cloth.
  2. PAINT: Shake your can of Rippled Effect spray paint for 1 minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. For a finer texture, hold the can 14-16” from the lamp while spraying, and for a larger ripple texture, hold the can 12-13” from the lamp. Spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Apply 3-5 coats (more coats = a stronger effect).
  3. FINISH: Allow your paint to dry for approximately 1-2 hours.
Once your lamp is completely dry, add a new lamp shade to complete the look. Place in your living room or office and enjoy!
