Want a stylish work area, but short on space? Give a space-saving murphy desk a two-tone look using Rust-Oleum’s Chalked Ultra Matte Paint.

  1. Use painter’s tape to cover the murphy desk’s hardware and mark off any areas you want to paint white.
  2. Stir the Chalked Ultra Matte Country Gray paint thoroughly to ensure any unsettled pigment is mixed. To ensure a smooth finish, apply the paint using light, even strokes with a high-quality synthetic paint brush.
  3. When paint is still tacky, remove the painter’s tape.
  4. Stir the Chalked Ultra Matte Linen White paint thoroughly to ensure any unsettled pigment is mixed. Apply to the desktop and shelves with light, even brush strokes.
  5. Allow base coat to dry for at least 8 hours. Apply Chalked Protective Topcoat over the entire desk with a high-quality synthetic paint brush using light, even strokes. For superior protection, apply 1-2 topcoats. Let dry at least 2 hours between coats.
  6. Hang murphy desk on your wall and enjoy your new space-saving work station.
