Organize your coffee in style with this DIY coffee pod holder. The best part? You can stain it any color to match to your kitchen’s décor.

1. PREPARE: Setup your workspace in a well-ventilated area and use a drop cloth to protect from drips. Using a pencil and ruler, draw five horizontal lines on the larger board 1.5”, 4.25”, 6.5”, 9”, and 11.5” from the top. Then, draw four vertical lines 1.5”, 4.5”, 7.5” and 10.5” from the left-hand side. Each point where the lines intersect will be the center of a hole.

2. CUT: Using your intersecting lines as a guide, use the drill and hole cutter to cut 20 holes into the board.

3. SAND: Sand the board thoroughly, working your way up through each grit of sandpaper. Make sure to sand each hole as well as your smaller piece of wood. Use a tack cloth to wipe away the sanding dust after you’re finished with each grit.

4. ATTACH: Using a brad nailer, attach the smaller piece of wood to the base of the larger piece of wood with brads. The large piece should have a slight angle once it’s secured to the base.

5. STAIN: Now, it’s time to stain. Before beginning, thoroughly stir or shake your can of Varathane Premium Fast Dry Wood Stain in Gunstock. Dip your lint-free cloth or brush into the stain and apply a generous amount to the wood in the direction of the wood grain. Let the stain sit for a few minutes (more time = deeper color), and then wipe away the excess with a clean, lint-free cloth. Once it’s completely stained, set the holder aside to dry for one hour.

6. POLYURETHANE: To apply Varathane Triple Thick Polyurethane, first stir (do not shake) it thoroughly with a stir stick. Using a clean, high quality synthetic bristle brush, apply the polyurethane to the board using long, even strokes in the direction of the wood grain. Make sure you cover the inside edges of the holes.

7. FINISH: Let the polyurethane cure completely for at least 48 hours before using. Once your new coffee pod organizer is completely dry, set it next to your coffee maker and enjoy!
