All it takes is a few supplies and 30 minutes, and your fireplace mantel will look rich and more beautiful using Varathane. 

  1. Wipe the unfinished mantel clean of dirt and dust using a lint-free cloth.

  2. Over a drop cloth, gently stir the wood accelerator.

  3. Using a bristle or foam brush, apply the Aged Wood Accelerator in the direction of the wood grain. Apply in one even coat and let the accelerator dry for 30 minutes.  

  4. Allow Aged Wood Accelerator to dry for 1 hour before applying a top coat.
