  2. Mark the center of the top of each piece (end grain side) with a pencil.
  3. Using the 1 5/8" Forstner bit, drill into each cube to a depth of approximately 3/4" or standard tea light height (16mm).
  4. Sand all pieces with progressive sandpaper grits, 120/180/220.
  5. Apply two coats of wood stain with a rag or paintbrush, and allow it to dry.
  6. Section off areas of the cubes (in a preferred geometric pattern) with painter’s tape.
  7. Apply two coats of spray paint, and allow it to dry for 24-48 hours.
  8. Carefully remove painter's tape.
  9. Apply two light coats of urethane, allow it to dry, then place a tea light in each hole.
