Put your own touch on some wood flower pots when you add the photo of your choice! Rust-Oleum Photo Transfer, in matte or gloss finish, makes it easy to transfer a laser print onto a wood surface. Our blogger friends, the Fancy Farmgirls, completed this project as a little DIY inspiration.

PREPARE:  Always work in a well-ventilated area and cover your workspace with a drop cloth to protect it from overspray. Working over a drop cloth, lightly sand the unfinished wood flower pots with sandpaper and wipe away residue with a tack cloth. Print photos of your choice using a laser printer. 

PAINT: Lay the unfinished wood pots on your drop cloth. Then, shake the can of spray paint and apply the paint according to the directions on the can.

DISTRESS (OPTIONAL): To get a distressed look, apply Chalked Ultra Matte Spray Paint in Linen White on top following the instructions above. Allow to dry. Once dry, use a medium grit sandpaper to lightly sand the pots, focusing on its edges and corners. Once you’re done distressing, wipe away the sanding dust with a tack cloth.

Using a foam brush, apply a generous layer of Photo Transfer to the printed side of the photo. Place the printed side of the photo down on the wood planter. Using an item with a hard edge (like a ruler or plastic card) press along back of photo to smooth out any air bubbles. Let the product and photo sit for 12 hours to cure.

After 12 hours, wet the paper with water until you see the image and using a clean rag, rub in a circular motion to remove the paper backing. 

PROTECT: To protect the finish, apply Chalked Protective Topcoat Spray Paint using the same instructions given for the paint.

FINISH: Allow the wood flower pots to dry for one hour. Add your desired flowers and/or herbs to your new pots and enjoy your personalized planters!
