Rust-Oleum Photo Transfer Medium & Varathane Aged Wood Accelerator makes this DIY project easy! Add a beautiful photo to a glass jar for your laundry soap and when people ask where you got it, tell them with pride that you made it.
Make sure your glass jar is clean and dry. Turn your jar on its side and place something on either side of it to keep it from rolling.
Print your own photo using a laser printer. Using a foam brush apply a generous layer of Photo Transfer solution to the printed side of the photo and then place the photo face down on the jar. Using an item with a hard edge (like a ruler or plastic card) press along back of photo to smoothe out any air bubbles. Also at the end of the directions an optional step would be to use Photo Transfer as a top coat.
Let the product and photo sit for 12 hours to cure. After 12 hours, wet the paper with water until you see the image and using a clean rag, rub in a circular motion to remove the paper backing.
Let it dry, then fill it with laundry soap.
For the shelf: Apply Aged Wood Accelerator to unfinished wood with a synthetic bristle brush or foam brush. Allow Aged Wood Accelerator to sit on the wood for 30 minutes to 1 hour for the final effect. Wiping away is not required. For a lighter effect, apply product and wipe away immediately or lightly sand the finish with fine grit sandpaper once it is dry. To darken the look, a second coat can be applied after 1 hour.
