A wood slice chalkboard sign is a great addition to your home décor or special event. Learn how to make your own using Rust-Oleum Chalkboard Spray Paint.
PREPARE: Use painter’s tape to outline the surface of the wood slice that you want to paint, and cover the sides to prevent paint from getting on them. Set up your workspace in a well-ventilated area and cover surroundings with a drop cloth.
PAINT: Shake your can of Rust-Oleum Chalkboard Spray Paint for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Hold the can 12-16" from the wood slice and spray in a steady, back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Apply several light coats a few minutes apart.
FINISH: Let the chalkboard spray paint dry completely for at least 24 hours. Once it's dry, condition the chalkboard by rubbing the side of a piece of chalk over the entire surface and wiping it clean with a dry cloth or chalkboard eraser. Complete the project by using chalk to add the message or image of your choice.
