A wooden end table gets a vintage makeover in this easy DIY project. Learn how to use Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte Paint to complete your own table transformation.
- Remove all hardware from the end table and remove the drawer.
- Over a drop cloth, gently yet thoroughly stir the Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte Paint. (For this project, we chose Serenity Blue.)
- Using a high-quality synthetic brush, use light, even brush strokes to ensure even flow and the smoothest finish. Only one coat of Chalked paint is required, but up to 3 coats can be applied for your desired look. Wait 30 minutes between each coat.
- Chalked paint dries to the touch in 30 minutes, to handle in 1 hour and is fully dry in 2-4 hours. May be recoated after 2-4 hours.
- To distress the surface, lightly sand the edges with fine to medium grit sandpaper or a sanding sponge. The more the piece is distressed, the more the original surface will show through. Wait 2 hours after painting before sanding or distressing.
- Apply Rust-Oleum Chalked Protective Topcoat for added protection.
