Spruce up your wall or window with this DIY celestial wall art project. Reach for the stars as you create your very own constellation-themed home décor.

Preparation: Lightly sand wooden dowel in the direction of the grain with fine-grit sandpaper. Remove sanding dust with a vacuum or tack cloth.

Apply: Work in a well-ventilated area, such as a garage or outside. Apply one coat of Varathane Premium Fast Dry Wood Stain liberally with a good quality brush or clean, lint-free rag. Allow to penetrate for 2-3 minutes then remove excess stain by wiping with a rag in the direction of the grain.

Finish: Allow stain to dry for 1 hour. For added protection, apply one coat of Varathane Ultimate Polyurethane. Let dry for 2 hours.

Preparation: If your wood stars are not pre-drilled, drill holes a using a 1/8” drill bit. Make sure your stars are clean and free from any dust, dirt or debris. Work in a well-ventilated area, such as a garage or outdoors. Over a drop cloth or Kraft paper, shake your can of spray paint vigorously for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle.

Apply: Hold your can of spray paint 10-16" (if using Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Metallic) or 8-12” (if using Rust-Oleum Universal Metallic) from surface, spray in a steady, back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Apply two or more light coats a few minutes apart to avoid drips and runs.

Finish: Allow the stars to dry at least 1 hour before attaching ribbon and hanging from wooden dowel.
