Burly Wine Box

Using 150 grit sandpaper lightly sand the wine box
Wipe residual sanding dust with a tack cloth
Cut parchment paper slightly larger than the area of the wine box to be covered.
Starting with the Varathane Colonial Maple Stain brush stain over entire one side of the parchment paper.
Using the Varathane Traditional Cherry stain, apply in random spots over the Colonial maple stain.
Using the Carrington Varathane stain, randomly cluster small dabs over the previous stains. Do not cover entire sheet, just apply in spots working from the center outwards.
Pick up the parchment paper and lay the stained side down onto the wooden box. Lightly rub with a soft cotton cloth until covered.
Lifting one side, remove the parchment paper. If there are areas of no stain, place the paper that has stain left on those areas and rub with cloth. Lift off again.
Let stand for three minutes. Dab stained area with a clean cotton cloth to remove excess stain.(DO not WIPE, this will ruin the effect.)
Repeat steps 6-9 on the remaining sides of the box.
If desired, mask a ¼” border on outside edges of the box and apply Varathnae Ebony stain with a Q-tip. See attached picture.
Let dry for a minimum of 1 hour.
Apply Varathane Triplethick Polyurethane, one side at a time, using a high quality synthetic bristle brush. Follow directions on the can to achieve desired finish. Let dry 48 Hours before use.
