Make your Father's Day 'crafty' this year with a DIY project for Dad. Put the finishing touch on a handmade bottle opener or beer flight, with Varathane Fast Dry Wood Stain.
Step 1: Draw marks on board where the opener will be attached. Drill holes where the marks are.
Step 2: Prepare bare wood for staining by sanding in the direction of the grain. Begin with #120 grit sandpaper and progress through #150 and #180 grits.
Step 3: Wipe the wood with a lint-free cloth to ensure a clean surface.
Step 4: With a lint-free cloth, and in the direction of the grain, apply Carbon Gray wood stain liberally to the board and wooden block. Allow the stain to sit for 2-3 minutes before wiping off, also in the direction of the grain. Repeat with Aged Wheat for the beer flight.
Step 5: Allow the stains to dry for approximately 1 hour.
Step 6: Glue the wooden block onto the board. Screw the opener, brackets, and hook onto the board for the bottle opener.
Step 7: Mount the bottle opener to the wall and attach the beer mug to the hook.
