Wood wall shelves don't have to look ordinary. Wood stain can make them look like they've aged naturally in just minutes. See how Farmhouse Features completed this project.

  1. Lightly sand the pieces of wood to create smooth surface. 
  2. Lightly stir the can of Varathane Aged Wood Accelerator.                                                      
  3. With a 2" foam brush, apply the Aged Wood Accelerator to the bare wood, following the directions on the can. 
  4. Let the Aged Wood Accelerator dry for approximately 1 hour.
  5. Apply Varathane Ultimate Polyurethane Water Based with a foam brush following the directions on the label.
  6. For the smoothest finish, lightly sand the polyurethane finish between coats. A minimum of 3 coats are recommended. 
  7. Let the polyurethane dry completely for 24 hours.
  8. Attach the brackets and hang your shelves on the wall.
