Spray painting a wood serving tray is an easy way to accessorize your kitchen and serve guests in style. Follow these steps to create your own painted wood tray.
- Choose a well-ventilated area to work and cover the floor with a drop cloth to protect it from overspray.
- Shake your can of Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paint (we used Satin Midnight Blue) for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Then, hold the can 10-16” from the tray and apply the spray paint in a steady, back-and-forth motion. Apply 2-3 light coats a few minutes apart.
- Let the paint dry for 1 hour to the touch and completely for 24 hours.
TIP: Using a primer and top coat result in added protection and longer-lasting color. We recommend using Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover Primer in White before painting, and then adding a coat of Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover Clear.
