COMPLETED PROJECT

Is your bed’s headboard looking outdated? Give it an updated look with Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paint. See how we gave a plain white headboard a rich appearance with just a few light coats of spray paint.

  1. Before you begin spray painting, sand the headboard using fine-grit sandpaper. Once you’ve sanded, use a clean cloth to wipe away the dust.
  2. Working in a well-ventilated space, apply Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover White Spray Primer according to the directions on the can. A coat of white paint primer provides a great base for your color and gives you a longer-lasting finish.
  3. After 20 minutes, apply Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paint (we used Satin Warm Caramel). Keep the spray paint can 10-16” inches from the headboard as you spray. It’s better to apply a few light coats of paint a few minutes apart than a single, heavy coat.
  4. Apply Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover Clear within 1 hour or after 48 hours.
