A painted lantern is an easy way to add a pop of color to any room. Learn how to transform an ordinary metal lantern into a piece of eye-catching home décor.
- Always work in a well-ventilated area and cover the floor with a drop cloth to protect it from overspray.
 - Apply painter's tape to any portion of the lantern you don't want to paint. Shake your can of Rust-Oleum® Stops Rust® Protective Enamel (we used Fire Red) and spray in a steady, back-and-forth motion. Apply 2-3 light coats a few minutes apart.
 - Remove the painter's tape about 20 minutes after spraying the last coat.
 - Let the spray paint dry for 1 hour to the touch and completely for 24 hours.

TIP: Use of a primer & topcoat provides added protection and longer-lasting color. We recommend Rust-Oleum® Stops Rust® Universal Bonding Primer in White and Rust-Oleum® Stops Rust® Protective Clear Enamel.
