Rusted Wood Wreath

Give wood and other surfaces a rusty appearance with the Modern Masters Metal Effects Rust Kit. See how Kim at Salvaged Living gave a decorative wood wreath and metal bells a rusted finish for a unique look!

  1. Apply the Metal Effects Primer to your wood wreath and metal bells with a chip brush, thoroughly stirring the primer before applying. Apply two coats of primer and allow to thoroughly dry between coats.
  2. Once the primer has dried, apply two coats of Metal Effects Iron Paint, allowing the paint to dry completely between coats. Thoroughly stir the Iron Paint before applying. Let dry.
  3. After the Iron Paint has completely dried, lightly spray the wreath with the Rust Activator. Multiple coats of the Metal Effects Rust Activator can be applied to achieve your desired rusted effect. Be sure to let it dry between coats, as the rust appearance shows when the Rust Activator has dried.
  4. Lastly, apply the Metal Effects Sealer Permacoat Xtreme to seal and protect your newly rusted finish!
