Give a plain wicker headboard an updated look with Rust-Oleum spray paint.

  1. Find a well-ventilated space to work in.
  2. Before you begin spray painting, sand the wicker headboard using a fine-grit sandpaper. Once you’ve sanded, use a clean cloth to wipe away the dust.
  3. Spray the surface with Rust-Oleum® Painter's Touch® 2X Ultra Cover® White Primer, following the directions on the can. This will provide a good base for your color and result in a longer-lasting finish.
  4. After the primer has dried for 20 minutes, apply Rust-Oleum® Painter's Touch® 2X Ultra Cover spray paint (we used Ultra Matte in Perfect Gray) in a light coat over the primer.
  5. Apply a second coat or Rust-Oleum® Painter's Touch® 2X Ultra Cover® Clear within 1 hour or after 48 hours
  6. Let the paint on your project dry for an hour before handling and 24 hours before full use.

TIP: Wicker has the tendency to absorb paint. Using primer before you paint will save you time and help create a flawless finish.
