Different Types of Wood Stain
Wood stain is available in various formulas, and it’s important to choose the one that’s best for your project. Here’s a look at some of the different types of Varathane wood stain.
Varathane Premium Wood Stain: Premium Wood Stain allows you to darken the color of your wood by adding additional coats. It’s ideal for furniture, floors and trim.
Varathane Premium Fast Dry Wood Stain: As the name implies, this wood stain dries quickly. In addition to drying in about an hour, this wood stain delivers rich, even color in just one coat. It’s ideal for furniture, floors and trim.
Varathane Premium Gel Stain: Gel stain is thicker than traditional stain, which means you can use it on vertical surfaces without having to worry about drips. Gel stain can also be applied to multiple surface types. In addition to wood, Varathane Gel Stain can be used on metal, plastic and fiberglass. It can also be used with a graining tool to give non-wood surfaces, like a fiberglass door, the appearance of wood.
Specialty Wood Stains: Give freshly stained wood an older or more rustic appearance with formulas such as Varathane’s Aged Wood Accelerator, Weathered Wood Accelerator, Charred Wood Accelerator and Whitewash Wood Enhancer.
DIY Color Blends: If you can’t find just the right premixed wood stain color, you can easily create a custom color blend by combining equal parts of two Varathane Premium Fast Dry colors.
